Today (Sept. 9, 2025), the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion<\/a> introduced by Supervisor Kathryn Barger to proclaim September 11, 2025, as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance<\/em> in Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supervisor Barger\u2019s motion also directs all County departments to fly the U.S. and County flags at half-staff on that day to honor the thousands of innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe tragedy of September 11th will remain forever engraved in our hearts and minds,\u201d said Supervisor Kathryn Barger<\/strong>. \u201cThat terrible day is a solemn reminder of the fragility of life, the courage of first responders, and the resilience of our country. As we mark 9\/11\u2019s 24th anniversary, I urge everyone in Los Angeles County to reflect on the lives lost and honor their memory by engaging in acts of service that strengthen our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supervisor Barger will join residents and first responders at a remembrance event she is co-hosting with the Antelope Valley 9\/11 Remembrance Ceremony Governance Board to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony will honor local law enforcement officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.  It will take place on Thursday, September 11, at 9:00 a.m. at the Antelope Valley Mall\u2019s main entrance, located at 1233 West Rancho Vista Blvd., Palmdale, CA 93551.
