A Tradition of Talent: LA County Library Opens 46th Annual Bookmark Contest for Young Artists

Los Angeles County, CA – Returning for its 46th year, LA County Library’s Bookmark Contest encourages young readers to shine through art and design. From now through October 18, 2025, creative young minds across the County have the chance to express their love for reading and libraries through unique and imaginative bookmark designs.

“When we give young people space to express themselves, we unlock a deeper connection to learning and community,” said Dr. Skye Patrick, County Librarian and Director of LA County Library.  “This project is a beautiful way to celebrate the brilliance and imagination found in every corner of LA County.”

This year, the Library invites young artists to create original designs inspired by reading, books, libraries, or their own imagination. Winning bookmarks will be recognized, displayed, and distributed at every LA County Library location in 2026.
