Assemblymember Fong Honors Outstanding Educators of Assembly District 49
ALHAMBRA, CA – Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra), Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, recognized educators and school leaders from across Assembly District 49 for their dedication to students and contributions to their school communities.
The Outstanding Educator Awards recognize teachers and school leaders who go above and beyond to support student success, strengthen their schools, and make a lasting impact in the lives of young people throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
“Educators are pillars of student success. It is an honor to celebrate the educators who make an impact both inside and outside the classroom. Their commitment to supporting students throughout the San Gabriel Valley is helping shape the next generation of leaders,” said Assemblymember Mike Fong.
The 2026 Assembly District 49 Outstanding Educators are:

- Kumi Nani Christina Aiu-Quezada – Hālau Hula Moaniʻaʻala Anuhea, Monterey Park
- Pin Chen – Arcadia High School, Arcadia USD
- Sara Quezada – El Monte High School, El Monte UHSD
- Scott Barton – San Marino High School, San Marino USD
- Socorro Elizabeth Martinez – Roosevelt Elementary, San Gabriel USD
- Tammi Alderman – Temple City Unified School District
- Yvette Casillas Hall – Wright School, El Monte City School District
- Dr. Debbie Kotani – Principal, Ramona Elementary, Alhambra USD
